Envy's Duplex, The Hegemony Compound, Brazil, Friday
Christmas and New Year had gone by. And before Christmas, the time Kid Chameleon had almost signed a record deal. Almost, because Scott had screwed it up with his refusal to co-operate. Envy hadn't been pleased. And she'd known she'd probably had no right to be as angry as she'd been, considering the Jim thing, but that hadn't actually stopped her.
She'd spent Christmas in Montreal.
Over Christmas break, Scott had gotten a haircut. And on New Year's Eve, he'd started a fight. A bad one.
And now Envy was finally back here again, and it was weird how hard she was taking it all. She wouldn't have expected this. Hadn't she been getting more than a little uncertain about this relationship for a nice long while now? Guess that didn't protect her from heart break. Or how a strangely localized little raincloud formed once she'd made it inside the apartment.
Moxy was about equally confused by this development, albeit for different reasons.

In the end, he knocked.

The sound of rain grew a little louder – as if it came a little closer to the door. Which it did.
The door didn't open.
"I'm busy, come back later!"

"Are you raining?" he asked.

Then, pettily, "I'm not raining." It was just raining above her! And no, there wasn't going to be any flooding, because it wasn't even getting her wet, nor was it hitting the floor at all.
It was strange rain.

"Okay," Peter said, after a long pause.

"Okay."

A not insignificant part of Envy wanted to pull away from the door. But she didn't.
"It's nothing you care about."

"Scott?" Peter said, taking a wild guess and feeling mightily proud of himself for not sounding like he was eyerolling.

"You get no points for that."

"Go away, Peter."

She'd noticed.

"Across the hall, this time," Peter said mildly.
