Room 227, Friday Afternoon
Natalie's week had not been the best. She didn't like feeling off-balance, and that was the only thing she'd been feeling since the break had ended. Or maybe even before that. So, she really hadn't been thinking of going to the homecoming dance. She'd not even talked to Sam about it. Sam being at the heart of why she felt so off her game lately and all.
But she'd just opened her closet door to dump a box of random crap in there, and instead she'd found a teal dress just laying there on her closet floor. (Upon closer examination, she would have noticed that the dress Joan had helped her buy for her birthday this year was gone. But she was too busy boggling over the new one to notice.) Putting the box aside, she picked the dress up gingerly, as if half expecting it to attack her or something.
Who knew it with randomly appearing dresses, right? This was Fandom.
When it didn't prove immediately dangerous, she held it up in front of herself. It was in her size, too, but... "How is this even supposed to stay up?"

"Yeah, well, is that something I'm supposed to own, too?"
She was used to her clothes staying up on their own.

In most other places, that would have sounded so much like a desperate lie.

She examined the dress again, holding it up, then shook her head. "And it clearly doesn't want it enough if it wants me to work to wear this."

But, she considered the dress again, wrinkling her nose.
"The colour is okay, though."

Natalie was just the most gracious ever at accepting friendly offers.

"You know, let's just skip the answer to that so that you can save your comments about me wasting my time for another occasion," Natalie told him. "If you get the tape, I'll go to the dance."

Yeah he wasn't gonna stop calling it that.
