A Room at the Arms, Monday Morning

There were a couple of mostly empty food service carts in the room. Crumbs in the bed. Several messages on Natalie's phone now that it wasn't dead to the world outside Fandom again.

Natalie was not aware of these things. She wasn't even aware of how her cheek was smushed against Peter's shoulder, or how her arm was draped over him.

But she would be soon, most likely.

"I'm going to have to start charging you for every time you resort to that word."

"I'm not sure the Hegemony budget can take that," Peter said frankly.

He let out a sigh, and then tentatively slid his arm around her shoulders.

He couldn't mistake this lean into it as anything other than positive feedback, right? She thought it was pretty clear.

"Then don't say 'right' so much."

[lockestheway]

Yeah, that lean was okay.

"I'm working on it," Peter said. "I'm usually better at the words of the equation. Don't tell my parents about this."

[whenshewasnice]

She rested her head against his shoulder, just to be sure.

"I never tell your parents anything."

[lockestheway]

"One of many reasons why I love you," Peter joked.

Though this morning it felt like less of a joke.

"I know."

Her tone wasn't particularly joking, but then she wasn't always so big on tones of any kind, so it might not have meant much.

She sighed, winding her arm around him.

Peter dropped his head gently against hers and eyed the carnage of room service carts standing around the room.

Quietly.

[whenshewasnice]

"So is this what adults do?" Natalie wondered quietly after a moment.

Even she wasn't entirely sure what part of everything 'this' was meant to mean.

[lockestheway]

"Order in obscene amounts of room service and eat it all?" Peter asked. "I'm pretty sure that's something of all ages, if you had the money."

[whenshewasnice]

"Mm." She sighed, again. "No wonder I feel nauseous this morning."

[lockestheway]

"Blame the elasticity of the stomach," Peter said, because he wasn't sure what else to say either.

[whenshewasnice]

"Ew."

There were worse reactions.

[lockestheway]

"What, you don't like a little gross-out humor the morning after a patented Fandom Weird Weekend?" Peter asked. "I'm shocked, Adams."

[whenshewasnice]

"I'm not above throwing up in your lap, Wiggin," she drawled. "Naked or not."

[lockestheway]

"Kinky," Peter said.

[whenshewasnice]

Natalie groaned.

"You don't want to go down that road."

Was that a threat to TMI him again? Probably.

[lockestheway]

The whole past weekend had been some flavor of TMI, honestly, so Peter felt a kind of temporary immunity towards it.

"Gets you talking, doesn't it?" he said lightly.

[whenshewasnice]

"Bodily fluids that don't naturally go with sex are not my kink," she informed him. "My kinks are clean, or at least more hygienic. Like restraints. If puke is involved with those, something's gone too far."

[lockestheway]

"Or you picked a really bad time to get romantic," Peter mused, "I guess."

Mm. Temporary immunity.

[whenshewasnice]

"Who said anything about romance?" Natalie retorted. "I only realized I liked that kind of thing when I let an ex manhandle me. There are books to be written about that, I'm sure."

[lockestheway]

"Better get a head start on getting a good biographer, then," Peter said.

He was pulling a face now, but that had more to do with his realization he didn't particularly like the words 'Natalie' and 'manhandled' in the same sentence.

"I was thinking of donating the whole story to someone's psych dissertation," she replied, and glanced up at him. "What's with the face?"

"What face?" Peter asked.

[whenshewasnice]

"The face you were making."
