A Hotel Room in Toronto, Very Very Ridiculously Early Sunday Morning

Not too long had passed since they'd left the club. The night was short when someone had to leave in the morning. And not too much had happened, either. 'I just want to be near you' was what Envy'd said and it was about what had happened.

She hadn't slept a wink, of course. Please. Just wasn't going to happen. Laying on her side with Jim's arm pulled around her was close enough. Wasn't it?

Jim was awake. He'd been awake for awhile now and he knew that he'd have to get up soon, get dressed and head back to the ship and Starfleet Academy.

He was staring at the wall, trying to prolong having to get up and leave as long as he could.

Avoiding the inevitable seemed to be a theme for some people, recently.

Envy sighed.

"I need to get back," Jim breathed, blinking slowly. "Sorry I can't stay longer."

Envy held back another sigh.

"I know."

Both things.

"Okay," Jim murmured, staying against her for a few more seconds before he started disentangling himself from her. His limbs were heavy and warm and he didn't want to get up but he had to.

Envy rolled with his movement and tried to get a hold of his arm. Knowing he had to go soon was not the same as accepting it.

The quiet little whine sounded a whole lot like 'nooo'. If you really, really paid attention.

Jim stopped moving and looked at her, amused. "What?"

"I don't want you to go."

Yeah. She was working up to accepting it.

"I know," he murmured, reaching to rub her arm lightly. "I wish I could stay but I'll get in the shit if I'm late."

"Ugh." She rolled over to face him properly. She was still wearing last night's makeup. "That's all I have to say to that."

[pursuedthestars]

"Sorry," he murmured, smiling slightly. "I might have more time after all the wrap up is done but I don't wanna tick anyone off."

He was already on some thin ice.

"Ugh," Envy repeated with a sigh, watching his face. She brought a hand up to brush a few fingers over his cheek. He looked thinner than he had. "Maybe next time."

"Thanks for helping me get some good sleep," he said quietly, rubbing his cheek against her hand. "Been a long time for me."

[whenshewasnice]

"You're welcome." And no, she wasn't going to say a word about how she hadn't slept at all. "Thanks for coming."

[pursuedthestars]

"You're kind of hard to resist when you want something," Jim said quietly. It helped that I didn't want to resist.

[whenshewasnice]

"I didn't even know if you were alive when I sent the invite."

That wasn't an accusation, just fact. Her hand cradled his cheek.

"Your eyes look even more blue than I remembered."

"Sorry," Jim said, apologetic. "After I sent that, things happened pretty quick. I wasn't able to communicate again."

[whenshewasnice]

"It's okay." It hadn't been very okay, but she'd pushed through it. Didn't matter much now, anyway, did it? She had other things to worry about when it came to him. "Kiss me."

Like that.

"You're gonna make it hard for me to leave," he murmured, ducking down and giving her a light kiss and then a longer, deeper kiss.

[whenshewasnice]

"Trust me, I could make it much harder," she replied, somewhere between the first kiss and the second. Because the second deserved her full focus.

Had his lips always been this good against hers, or was that just the thrill of doing something she shouldn't have been doing?

Jim's lips had always been awesome. Always. She should remember that. He could help her remember that by moving closer to her and pulling her flush against him while his lips worked against hers.

He was just too damn helpful with reminding her, the jerk. Of course, Envy took advantage of his embrace by guiding his hand down to the curve of her ass. So she wasn't exactly innocent, either.

Maybe she wanted to remember his hands, too.

Jim didn't need much help with that. His hand curled over her ass and he squeezed, pushing her ever closer to him. If she didn't want his hands all over her, she didn't need to do things like this.

Right now, she definitely wanted them all over her. She'd deal with the consequences of it later. She was wrapping her arm around him and doing her part in keeping him close to her.

A sound of appreciation escaped her lips, against his.

"You're gonna make me late," he mumbled against her lips, giving her ass a squeeze. "I'm gonna get yelled at."
