Hegemony Compound Grounds, Saturday

Envy was covered in paint. Although while she was walking through the compound grounds on her way home, you couldn't really tell that was the case. Not until she shrugged off her jacket - it'd been much cooler where she was coming from, so the jacket had been more merited there than it was here - and it left her arms bare. Because usually, her arms were pale and without a single mark on them. And now? They were a mess of colour and patterns and seemingly random symbols and text fragments.

It was all for a music video, of course. The album was still due to launch in a couple of markets, even as they were already looking towards getting its follow-up together, and her team had decided making a video for Satellite Mind would make sense. So that was what she'd been doing for the past couple of days. Two days of stuff without body paint, and then this last one with body paint, and Envy was oh so ready to come home.

And, yes, they had offered to help her take it all off, but the shoot had run late and they'd been almost kicked out of the location and so she'd opted to just deal with herself. In the comfort of her own home.

She hoped this wasn't going to turn out to be a bad idea.

"What a few centuries of hugging kangaroos can't do for a person," Peter said, sitting down on the couch next to her bag.

Envy shifted the bag onto the floor, and then shifted herself closer to him. And then promptly maneuvered his arm around herself because guess she wasn't up to being coy about her needs. Not after the whole thing yesterday.

And also in the hallway, just now.

She pressed against his side and rested her head against his shoulder.

Peter would've expressed some sense of amusement, but he wasn't used to her playing it this... not-coy. So he didn't.

Instead he gave her a firm squeeze and pressed a kiss against the top of her head.

Envy sighed. "I'm tired, Peter." Well, he'd wanted her to admit it last night. So here she was, spelling it out. "It's been a very long couple of days."

"It sounded like it," Peter said lightly. "You want to talk about them, or just skip right ahead to doing nothing important?"

Envy nuzzled his shoulder. But she would probably just have claimed she was merely getting more comfortable. "You wouldn't think getting painted all over would be as tiring as it is."

That was a general 'you', obviously. Although she also doubted he, personally, would've expected it.

"I've seen documentaries," Peter said lightly. (Not by choice.) "It takes hours to put on, right?"

[whenshewasnice]

"Hours and hours," Envy confirmed with a sigh. "There were some stencils involved to make it a little quicker, but most of it was by hand. I don't want anyone poking at me with brushes again anytime soon."

[lockestheway]

"I guess I'll strike that off my schedule for the day," Peter said. "I'd been thinking unicorns."

Another kiss to the top of her head. No reason, really.

"They already left enough marks on your behalf, anyway," Envy replied. Quietly.

[lockestheway]

"On my behalf?"

[whenshewasnice]

"None of what was there was random or accidental."

Leave it to her to load a music video up with meanings only a few people could decipher.

[lockestheway]

"Ah," Peter said. He hugged her a little closer, because it felt like he should. "Well, I guess I'll have to watch this video, then."

[whenshewasnice]

"Not watching it was never an option." She knew he hadn't meant that, probably, but she felt inclined to tease. "But yes. You will."
