Envy's Apartment, The Hegemony Compound, Ribeirao Preto, Wednesday

Envy's second solo album was finally dropping this Friday on all major streaming platforms as well as on both CD and vinyl where physical formats where still sold. On top of that, her second major solo tour was due to begin next week, just in time for everyone to have learned the new stuff by heart. So all in all, between tour prep and last-minute costume fittings and endless phone interviews, Envy was having kind of a busy time.

But if she'd still jumped Peter a little more often and a little more aggressively these past few weeks than she perhaps tended to otherwise... Look, it was a stressful time and she was about to be away from home for months on end. You couldn't blame her for trying to stock up on some personal time with her boyfriend.

In fact, perhaps predictanly, they'd just about finished another bout of that even just now. Envy dropped down next to Peter, rolling onto her back with a pleased sigh.

Envy's smile remained small and wry, although it also softened a touch.

"I'd settle for you not baiting me into forgetting what a stubborn asshole you are."

Peter batted his eyelashes. "If that's what you want."

Envy rolled her eyes. Slooowly.

"Don't be a brat."

[lockestheway]

"Those mixed signals could kill," Peter said.

While leaning up to kiss her, yeah. He thought he was hilarious.

He could try, but Envy pulled up in time with his upward lean.

"Nope."

[lockestheway]

Peter sighed loudly, collapsing back onto the mattress.

(Hey, he wasn't surprised.)

Of course not.

"No pouting, now," Envy quipped, smirking down at him. "It makes you less pretty."

[lockestheway]

"Maybe I don't want to feel pretty right now," Peter said, closing his eyes. "Maybe I'm tired of you objectifying me."

He was not, and she did not.

[whenshewasnice]

"I bring up the Chanel thing about once a year, and that's about the extent of it," Envy retorted, amused. And watching him. "You must have really low tolerance."

[lockestheway]

"I hadn't gotten much practice until, ah, two years ago?" Peter said. "Give me some time."

[whenshewasnice]

"You'd think living with the vainest person on the planet for those two years would've at least given you a boost in adapting or something."

That probably wasn't an accurate description of her. But, close enough.

[lockestheway]

"You're not the vainest person on the planet," Peter said idly. "Though you try your best."

[whenshewasnice]

Envy gasped, pretending to be scandalized. "Then who is? Because I might need to put out a hit on them."

[lockestheway]

"Thank you, that's all the evidence I needed to have them put in witness protection," Peter said, smile broadening.

[whenshewasnice]

Envy snorted, even as a smile tugged on her lips. "I can't decide whether that's you being a decent person, or just a terrible boyfriend."

[lockestheway]

Peter's eyes opened up to look at her. "Why not both?" he joked.

Damn, but she was beautiful like this.

[whenshewasnice]

She smirked down at him.

"Because I only value one of them."

[lockestheway]

Peter wiggled his eyebrows at her.

"I'm not going to ask you which one," he said.

[whenshewasnice]

"Smart boy," Envy replied without missing a beat, and with a little tilt of her head, mischief in her eyes. "You should know my priorities by now."

[lockestheway]

"Somewhat."

The teasing fell out of Peter's expression. He took a deep breath, just to let himself enjoy the feeling of it running through his relaxed body.

Envy let one of his hands go so she could run her fingertips against his chest. Feather light, barely even touching him.

She fell quiet, for the moment.

[lockestheway]

Peter cupped her cheek with his newly-freed hand, his thumb brushing against her cheek.

His gaze dipped down-- and then back up to catch her eyes.

Envy tilted her face slightly, subtly into the touch.

She watched him, watching her.

[lockestheway]

"You're better than I deserve," Peter said quietly. "Luckily me that I'm too selfish to care."

[whenshewasnice]

This time, the tilt was slightly more obvious, along with the shift in her expression towards something a little more wry.

"Oh, come on," she murmured. "That's not true."
