The Canon

The Scott Pilgrim series of graphic novels is about (you guessed it!) Scott Pilgrim, 23-year-old Toronto slacker and bass player for a garage band, who meets the girl of his dreams but must defeat her seven evil exes in order to be able to date her. I'm not gonna go further into the plot here because basically, that's the gist of it. For more, go read the books! G'wan! They're awesome. And have tons of awesome stuff that never made it into Scott Pilgrim vs. the World the movie ~~like 85 % of everything my girl is in~~, in case you've only seen that.

Also, I'm feeling too lazy for much of a plot recap. What I do want to comment on is the world of Scott Pilgrim: it's very much influenced by old school video games. This means important life events give you experience points (and occasionally special items like swords and skateboards), you can level up, lots of people have superhuman powers and defeated enemies turn into coins. All of that might influence Natalie's expectations of the state of things in Fandom, as well.

Oh, and Natalie is indeed from the same canon as

dabblinginbitch and

wehateyouplzdie, but from another universe, which means Wallace hates her for things she won't do for another few years.

The Girl

Natalie V. Adams grew up in Montreal, where she spent her childhood years living next door to a boy called Todd Ingram who she was deeply in love with in a pure, preadolescent way. They were best friends. And then, when they were eleven, the Ingrams moved to the US, and Natalie was left to grow up without her childhood sweetie, with a broken heart.

Which brings us to Natalie as she is now coming to Fandom. Natalie in high school is a withdrawn, almost mousy sort of girl. She's not shy, as such, and she'll have no problem letting you know where she she stands, but she's not overly talkative. She's not unfriendly either, but she won't be the first one to reach out and make friends with everyone. She's the kind of girl who takes her time before she smiles at you, because she wants to know if you're worth it, first. She believes in true love, but she's also half convinced she's already lost hers. That doesn't mean she won't strive for it, even if she'll go about it in all the wrong ways: a flirt, she is not, but that won't stop her from making out with people in the hopes that love will come out of it.

As for her appearance, Natalie is a skinny 5'7" with brown eyes and long, straight blonde hair she usually keeps in a doubled-up ponytail. She's a bit of a tomboy when it comes to clothes, going for comfort instead of style and generally preferring loose t-shirts and jeans with comfortable hoodies and flat shoes. She wears practically no make-up. Also, her room makes it obvious that she's a geek, because there'll be anime figurines and posters all over the place, and the computer is her most prized possession.

She's not going to stay that way forever, though, because she's going to grow up to be Envy Adams (seen here strutting her stuff and earworming you). In college, she's going to meet a certain Scott Pilgrim, date him, start a band with him, and eventually take that band over before breaking up with him and moving back to Montreal, only to finally meet Todd Ingram again, taking over the indie music scene with him in a band called The Clash at Demonhead, and a lot of other stuff that doesn't really factor into Natalie in Fandom at this point. What you need to know here is that Natalie is on a slow road to turning into a callous bitch, but she's not anywhere near there yet. What is there already, however, is a keen intelligence and eye for business (when she takes over Scott's band, she steps on everyone's toes but the decisions she makes actually benefit the band) and a semi-dormant ambitious streak that she's currently using to focus on studying. She's already working hard for her goals, but for now she's still being nice about it.

Unless she falls under bad influence. The girl seems to have a penchant for evil dudes.

The powers and all that stuff

Superhuman strength & endurance. Like so many others in her canon, Natalie has superhuman strength and endurance. She can deflect Ramona's hammer with a swift kick, and she can get zapped across a room and into a wall without so much as getting a scratch on her. She's also pretty apt at fighting, though she's not particularly inclined to.

Meta.She can also break/lean on the fourth wall because it's a Scott Pilgrim thing to do in throwaway lines, though she'll be doing it rarely. Just know that she's one of those people who won't think Deadpool is completely out of his mind.

Personal raincloud. She has those, but only if things get really bad. Like, "just found out the love of my life has been two-timing me and he zapped me across the room with his psychic vegan powers, and also my ex turned him into coins" kinda bad. But it can happen.

Weak spot. If you touch the back of her knee, she's gonna crumple down on the floor with orgasmic bliss. Yeah. And for those of you who've only seen the movie, no, it doesn't kill her. But it can be used to take her out of a fight.

The PB

I'm using some comics icons, but yup, Natalie's PB (as per movie canon) is Brie Larson, who is also Kate's PB. There are a few pointers I can offer for telling the girl apart, though:

- Natalie has way longer hair.
- Natalie smiles way less.
- For some reason, Natalie also has a slightly higher voice in my head (though it's not yet the total phone sex voice from Scott Pilgrim vs. the World).
- And I suppose Natalie has a slightly different accent, though both are pretty generic American.

- From London, and E4's scifi dramedy Misfits, currently between S2 and the Christmas special.
- Junior, Class of 2013, 18.
- Rooms in 213 with Ramona Flowers.
- From the same canon as Nathan, but not from the same universe; timelinewise, Simon's an entire season ahead.
- 5'9", pale, has broad shoulders, and neat dark clothes that nicely cover up the fact that he's building up some muscle.
- Meticulously cut dark hair, huge blue eyes, lantern jaw of great justice.
- Can turn invisible, thanks to getting caught in a freak power-granting storm back home.
- When invisible, can't be perceived via any other senses apart from touch and (unlike I claimed earlier) telepathy.
- Spends a lot of his time in Fandom running around doing parkour-like things around town; feel free to have spotted him.
- Pretty darn intelligent, but also shy, timid, and awkward.
- But friendly and kind; he cherishes friendship over anything else, and it's not something he's experienced a lot in his life so far.
- Kinda sorta has a girlfriend back home, but it's very very complicated in a way only a scifi show can be.
- Geeky as hell, and as such, also kind of genre savvy.

- Slightly clueless because he's never had to think for himself; money has solved every problem he's ever had.
- Surprisingly geeky about astronomy.
- Unsurprisingly infatuated with fame, celebrities, parties, all that stuff; the lack of most of those things is one of the things he really doesn't like about Fandom.
- Will claim to be friends with several of the current teen superstars, and some of the early twenties ones; might be fibbing a bit since they mostly just let him hang around because of his money.
- Dislikes Justin Bieber because he was once snubbed by the stupid-haired Canadian at a party.
