Toronto, Not Brazil Nor Space, Tuesday

This felt surreal. After the... several months Natalie had just had, taking a day or two to actually be away from Brazil and the Hegemony and Peter was just surreal. Knowing she was going to get to actually see Jim for the first time in over three months? Yeah, weird.

Since they were not very into the idea of meeting in either Ribeirao Preto or Iowa, Natalie had picked a place almost at random from the first selection of package deals Portalocity had happened to offer her. So now she was standing in the Drake Hotel lobby in Toronto, with her bag slung over her shoulder and check-in already dealt with, just waiting for Jim to arrive.

"I'm glad about a lot of things," Natalie replied with a smirk.

It was probably the first of its kind in a long long while.

"And what are you glad about?" he asked, eating some chocolate and smiling at her.

[whenshewasnice]

"I'm glad that I'm here," she said. Then she held up her glass. "And I'm glad that I have wine, and a sandwich. And I'm glad I get to sleep next to you tonight. Probably naked and exhausted."

"Probably," Jim agreed. "Though, who knows if that exhausted part will come because you're just that tired from life or something else."

Natalie raised her eyebrows at him.

"Would you be content to just leave it up to life?"

"I'd be content with doing whatever you want to do," Jim said. "There's plenty of time to do lots of different things."

"I forgot you're a gentleman." She nodded approvingly, taking a sip from her glass. "Good answer."

[pursuedthestars]

"The rogueish good looks and charm probably make it easy to forget," he said, shrugging. "I forgive you."

"Thank you," she replied with a little mock grateful sigh. "So kind of you, Mr. Kirk."

"I know, Miss Adams," he said, shrugging like it was no big deal. "That's just how I am. I'm that great."

Natalie rolled her eyes. And then, since she'd finished her sandwich, she held out her free hand.

"Hand me some chocolate."

So bossy.

Jim shook his head at the bossiness and passed her some chocolate. Like the gentleman that he was.

"Thank you." See, she had good manners, even though she was bossy! She popped chocolate into her mouth and smiled at him.

"Just don't expect me to fan you with some giant leaf or let you rest your feet on my back like a human footstool," Jim told her.

"Neither of those things sound appealing to me," Natalie noted. "So you're safe. I might ask you to massage my shoulders, but that'll be about it."

[pursuedthestars]

"I can probably be talked into massaging your shoulders," Jim told her, nodding. "Shouldn't be too hard to persuade me into that bit of relaxation."

"And any other form I persuade you into will have something in it for you as well," Natalie promised. Then she looked like a thought occurred to her. "Does this room have a bathtub?"

She wasn't expecting him to know the answer since she'd been the one to book the room, but she was asking anyway.

"I have no idea," he said, reaching over and tapping her chin. "I didn't book the room and I flopped down on the bed as soon as I got here. Does this room have a bathtub?"

"I don't know if this room has a bathtub," she said, and tried to kiss his finger. "Seems like that should be investigated."

"Why? You feeling dirty?" Jim asked, keeping his finger near her lips. "Need to get rid of some body odor?"

"I might feel dirty," Natalie murmured. If it happened kind of against his finger, oh well. "That latter thing has nothing to do with it, however."

[pursuedthestars]

"You just wanna be naked with me?" he asked, tapping her lips once more before he pulled his finger back and smiled.

[whenshewasnice]

"Yes, I guess that's about it," Natalie admitted with a little nod. "Naked in a bath with bubbles and wine."

Sounded like vacation to her.

"Then, you better hope there's a bathroom here with a bathtub, huh?" Jim asked, smirking.

[whenshewasnice]

"You can't magic one into existence if there isn't?" Natalie teased, and tsked. "For shame, Jim."

But she was pushing herself off the bed already, to head for the bathroom door, the glass of wine still in her hand.
